IDN – Internationalised Domains for National Audience

Internationalised Domain name IDNAn IDN domain name (or “Internationalised Domain Name”) is just like any domain name, except that it can be made up of non-latin character sets, such as Cyrillic and Arabic, or use language-specific letters.

Specific country code extensions, wanting to make better use of their local languages, now accept certain characters as part of their Internationalised Domain Names.

For example:
In French: beaute.com could become beauté.com (IDN)
In Danish: mitdomaene.dk could be: mitdomæne.dk
In Russian: mydomainname.rf could be мойдомен.рф

This not only represents a great opportunity to register targeted domains with a targeted national identity, but also vastly enriches the pool of excellent available domains.
