Where IDN applyUnfortunately, not all domain extensions support internationalised, non-Latin, character sets... yet. Also, not all country codes accept the same set of international characters. So, to simplify things for you, find below a listing of all domain extensions that offer IDN options and the characters they accept.

The registration of IDNs in Bulgaria requires the domain name to be written only in Cyrillic and to contain at least one character which can be visually distinguished from the Latin alphabet, i.e. one of the following characters MUST be contained within the domain name: б, г, д, ж, и, й, л, п, ф, ц, ч, ш, щ, ь, ъ, ю, я. The rest of the characters within the domain name can be any other Cyrillic characters from the list.

·         Not all characters are supported by IDNs. The German ß is not allowed, for example. The full list of supported characters can be found here* .

* There are five character tables containing the list of all the non-ASCII characters that will be supported. Each IDN must use characters from a single (1) script only, so Cyrillic-only OR Greek-only (Greek + Greek-Extended) OR Latin-only (a-z, 0-9 + Latin-1 supplement + Latin Extended-A). The hyphen (-) is allowed in all cases.
